Tundra
Tundra environments are basically cold deserts. Summers are short and moisture is scarce. Tundra is almost exclusively distributed across the top of the Northern Hemisphere.

- the ecotone between tundra and the forest is known as the tree-line of timberline.
- biodiversity of tundra is low
- notable species in arctic tundra include musk ox, arctic hare, arctic fox, polar bears, caribou, snowy owl, lemmings.
